5 Key Steps to Certification
Becoming a CIS certified professional requires specific qualifications, but the process to apply is simple.
- Be a member of CIS in good standing.
If you are not already an associate member of the CIS body of certified professionals, you must first become a member to pursue CIS credentials. ( Apply for membership.) - Attend the CIS approved curriculum course(s) required for your Fraud Control Certification. Learn more.
- Submit the CIS Exam application along with your professional endorsements and proof of required experience.
Fill out the CIS Exam application and submit it along with three CIS Candidate Endorsement Forms to the Certification Department at CIS Headquarters. We recommend you gather your documentation and send it all together along with your application approximately one month before you are ready to take a CIS Exam. Your completed application and documentation can be mailed, transmitted by facsimile, or e-mailed to:

Once you have successfully completed the steps above, we will arrange to schedule and administrate your exam. CIS exams are administered on-line and can be taken at your convenience at your home or work. Your progress and score are monitored and recorded centrally through our on-line learning center. Your exam results are provided autnomatically upon completion of your exam. - Gain final approval from the certification committee and become certified by CIS.
You will officially become certified once your exam and credentials are approved by the certification committee. Those who have attained a CIS credential will be invoiced for certification renewal upon annual membership renewal.
Once your application is approved, we will collaborate with you to schedule the exams you desire to complete. The cost to take a single CIS exam is US $100 per attempt.
